Mindfulness & Racial Justice

A Mindfulness-Based Approach to Anti-Racism: An 8 Session Program for White People

Program Description

Talking about race and engaging in anti-racist work can be challenging, but it also offers a profound opportunity for growth and meaningful contribution. In this virtual program designed for white people, we focus on cultivating emotional strength, stability, and resilience to effectively navigate the discomfort and challenges that often arise around race.

Through guided meditations, self-compassion practices, self-reflection, small group discussions, and other mindfulness techniques, we explore our racial experiences and how they manifest in our inner worlds. Participants will learn strategies to support themselves during emotionally charged racial situations. From this grounded perspective, we examine our own privilege and biases and work together to engage actively in racial justice efforts.

Each session is two hours long, with assignments provided between sessions.

A Call for Collaborators

I have led this program in the past but am no longer interested in leading it alone. I am seeking collaborators for this project. If you’re interested in exploring this together, please complete the form below!

“Marissa guided us with wisdom and compassion, and helped us develop the capacity to observe how our bodies respond to difficult feelings around issues of race, and to become open to all aspects of our experience. I highly recommend working with Marissa to anyone who is genuinely curious about their inner landscape.”
