Mindfulness for Educators

Mindfulness and Self-Care Workshops

Working with youth can be incredibly rewarding, but also stress inducing. Without the tools to effectively manage challenges, there is high risk of burnout: 20% of U.S. teachers leave the profession each year. Research shows that mindfulness and other self-care practices support teachers and administrators in various ways, such as improving interpersonal relationships, and reducing stress and burnout. These workshops strengthen educators’ presence, compassion and communication – the inner resources they need to support themselves and their work, as well as their ability to help students flourish and succeed. Sessions focus on self-care or mindfulness and include guided meditations, interactive activities, discussions and simple exercises to support educators in reducing stress, navigating challenges and building their own mindfulness practice.

Sessions can take place directly in the school (in SF Bay Area) or virtually anywhere in the world.

Chair Yoga Sessions

Chair yoga is one of the most gentle forms of yoga. These sessions are perfect for people of all levels wanting to stretch the body and relieve tension . You will open your hips, move your shoulders and neck, and find length in your spine, all while seated. Chair yoga helps you physically relax and experience the benefits of regular yoga without having to wear special clothing or get down on the floor.

Tools & Strategies for the Classroom

This training program (7 sessions or more) teaches educators simple yoga and mindfulness strategies they can effectively bring into their classroom, even during the busiest school days. Using Little Flower Yoga’s framework, educators are introduced to activities that build students’ capacity to connect, breathe, move, focus, and relax. Educators learn how these practices help students regulate emotions, maintain concentration, and build resiliency. No prior mindfulness or yoga experience or special supplies required!

“Marissa is wonderful! She created a self-care for teachers program for us and introduced us to a new method of meditation that was super helpful. I have been using the technique every day since, and our teachers loved it. Highly recommended.”
