Yoga & Mindfulness for Youth & Teenagers
Young people today live in a world full of increasing distraction and pressure, and often find themselves stressed and overwhelmed. Yoga and mindfulness support youth in building their inner awareness and resilience to navigate challenges both in and outside of school. Using Little Flower Yoga’s framework, pre-K to 12 grade students participate in activities that develop their capacity to:
Teaching at Thurgood Marshall Academy Lower School
Connect: mindfulness practices for students to connect to themselves, others and the world around them
Breathe: students learn how the breath can help them manage their emotions and energy
Move: yoga and movement activities to help students connect to their bodies, release physical and mental stress and prepare for learning
Focus: techniques to develop students’ concentration and ability to stay focused
Relax: exercises that help students manage stress and over-stimulation and improve sleep
Teaching with Little Flower Yoga
Each program is 8 sessions or longer and includes fun and interactive activities such as: movement, music, games, art, journaling, and student-led discussions. All sessions are adapted to fit the unique needs and age of the group (3-18).
Sessions can be facilitated directly in the classroom (in the SF Bay Area), virtually via live and interactive sessions or through pre-recorded videos.
